Promises are kept that Nora's Promise, a contemporary romance by Sedona Hutton, is a book with a little something for everyone where the main characters Nora and Davey come into each other's lives through a tragedy that is going to change both their lives forever.  When Nora's sister dies, leaving her to raise her 9-year-old nephew, Nora doesn't know that this is going to be the first of eye opening changes to come into her life.  Taking a job at a local bar, Nora doesn't know that she is soon going to discover her nephew's long-lost father, Davey, who doesn't know it at the time he is a father to such an amazing little boy.  Davey, who is a Nascar Driver, is shocked to find out he is a father, but isn't about to abandon the son he never knew he had.

Two different people from different sides of the track, yet both harboring passion for each other.  Can they put their differences aside and finally let the love shine through?

Hutton made it very easy to fall in love with these characters.  All of them very likable and you felt like you could relate to them.  Each time they encountered a problem, you couldn't help but want to see them work everything out in the end.  My favorites were Nora, Davey, and Steph.  Nora was a little bit high strung, but not to the point where you couldn't stand her attitude.  She had a lot of hardships growing up, which Hutton made notice of during the book, but didn't over-do it.

Davey was raised with many secrets hidden from his mother, but all for his own good.  Once you found out why he acted the way he did, you couldn't blame him.

Steph acted the way she did towards Davey because she loved him.  When a tragic result from a doctor's visit occurred, she made a mistake not letting Davey know, but she hit it because she didn't want him to be hurt.

Hutton gave us backstories for each of these three so we could get to know them better, which worked out in this novel.  Nothing dragged on and the flow went smoothly for us to know who each person was in the novel.

My favorite part was when, after much fighting, Davey and Nora finally realized they were good together.  It showed that sometimes, a person needs someone who is opposite to balance out their lives.  Hutton had Davey, who was fast with women and on the race track mixed well with Nora, a woman who wanted to give up on love all together.

The only part I didn't like was each time Nora didn't want to give Davey a chance.  I get why Hutton did it this way, it made the story interesting and kept the reader on the edge of the seat, hoping she would finally give him a chance.  Still, I feel like Nora did this more than enough times.  Hutton may have been giving out the feeling that Nora was being careful when choosing a man to be with, but to me, it felt she thought she was too good to be with someone who was a race car driver.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a romance novel with a little bit of life in the fast lane.  This book is about giving chances to those who need it, which in mostly everyone.  At one point or another people are hard on themselves that we even need to give ourselves a chance to live life to the fullest.  Also, if you love animals, there is some scenes where Nora shows a connection to any animal that comes her way.  There is a little bit of something in here for everyone.

I rated this book 4 out of 5 stars.
